FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a trainer?

Rehabilitation training is an important part of the story, and yes we do incorporate it into all of our treatment plans. Rehabilitation training relies on strategies to help your pet make new associations with things that trigger them rather than focusing on traditional obedience work.

Where will the consultation occur?

We come to you, that way we can see the ins and outs of your pets daily life and make recommendations specific to your home. Travel costs are included in your consultation price for all those in the Sydney Metro area , however there is a surcharge for pets who live outside for 30-50km beyond Sydney CBD - $50 travel surcharge for 50-100km beyond Sydney CBD - $100 travel surcharge

How much is the consultation?

Pop over to our pricing page for specifics on consultation costs, but remember that our initial consultation includes 8 weeks of email follow-ups/questions so you won’t be left stranded waiting for a recheck consultation for help.

How do I pay?

You will be invoiced directly after the consultation with details on how to pay via direct bank transfer or credit card

Can you prescribe medication?

As veterinarians we can absolutely prescribe medication for your pet if it is indicated. At VBT we place a special emphasis on ensuring clients feel comfortable with any medications that are used, and we tailor those medications to your pet and what suits your family's needs.

Do I need a referral?

No, you can book a consultation with us without a veterinary referral. We will request your pet's veterinary history be sent through to us so we have the full clinical picture whilst making our assessment.

Do you use punishment or balanced training?

No, we believe in using only scientifically backed and ethical methods of treatment, so that means no choke/prong collars, no yelling or throwing things at your pet and no periods of enforced isolation.

Do you treat cats as well as dogs?

Absolutely! Cats suffer anxiety too and luckily they respond to rehabilitation training and management just as well as dogs do, we just may choose to use some fishier smelling treats.

How long will it take to fix the behaviour problem?

Every individual case varies and some problems are more complex than others. We cannot guarantee a 'fix' but we will support you every step of the way in helping you and your pet, from understanding the root of the problem, working together on environmental changes, behaviour modification training and guiding you through the challenges.
